The Hair Tool I Can't Live Without

You guys I think this is my favorite Christmas 2019 gift EVER!!!  Since I brought up 2019, I think I'd like to have it back.  Anyone else?!?  Or let's skip on over to 2021!   Hahaha.

Anyway, my favorite hair tool hands down has been the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer brush!  You guys this has saved SOOOOO much time during my morning routine.   As many of you know I like to exercise in the morning before work. The problem with that is that I can't wash my hair in the shower because it takes at least 15 minutes to just blow dry it and then it's a a total frizzy mess.  So following blow drying I either have to straighten it or curl it which is another 10 minutes, for a total time close to 30 minutes which I don't have.  So my hairstyle is often a messy bun or I don't get it wet in the shower.

INTRODUCE Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer!  My life and hair completely changed.  In less than 10 minutes, NO JOKE, I am able to blow dry my hair and look like I had a blow out!  Seriously, I get complements on my hair volume all the time when I use it.  Best part is that in lasts a few days, so I don't have to use other heating tools daily to do my hair, thus protecting it and having less split ends.  Now over the course of the next month or two, hopefully not longer, you will notice my hair getting worse and worse.  I was supposed to have a hair cut this week but now everything is closed indefinitely so it might be a while.  Honestly if it gets really bad I may let my 13 year old try to cut my hair.  Please COVID-19 go away, so that doesn't happen.

Anyway, if you do get this brush, give it a chance.  It's awkward to get used to at first but stick with it.  There are a number of youtube videos, like this one,  to show you how to use it but I  section off my hair and do 1" to 1n1/2" inch strands.  I always finish it off with some hair oil to give it moisture, tame  flyaways and add shine.

Now I'd love to try some simple new hair styles.  Hit me up with your ideas!

My Many Colored Days

Hi everyone.  I took a social media break.  I came back and life just blew up.  COVID-19 took over.  Every day life turned upside down.  Today is my first day at home at it's...well it's full of emotion.  Up until today I was at school, packing up, cleaning, reaching out to families to see if they were okay, helping my team as we gathered food and made hampers for 20+ families in our community that we know depend on us for their children's breakfast, lunch and snacks.  Amidst the chaos I had a task, a purpose and today feels heavy.

So as much as I wanted to write a regular post about fashion or my happy life, I just couldn't bring myself to it all week.  I have a post planned and pictures ready, but it just doesn't feel like me right now.  Right now I feel a lot of emotions, fear, anxiousness, pride in our community, nervous,  hopeful, sad, confused, grateful for having a job that allows and encourages me to be at home taking care of my own family while also trusting me to do the right thing and use appropriate social distancing.  I was going to dig into the connection between emotions and colors with my little Pre-K group in order to help them identify, understand and self-regulate.  But here I am struggling with all of these concepts myself.  So right now, I am going to be honest and just lean in to this awful, uncomfortable feeling, that makes me want to stay in bed, the fear of hearing any more news, and I am going to show up for my children, for my family and for my community by doing my part and staying at home!

For a fun learning activity about emotions with your children, I've gathered up some resources to guide you.

1.  Have your child come up with a list of different emotions, jot them down together.

2.  Read the book or listen to it here.

3.  Go back to your list of emotions and decide which color best suits each emotion and why they think so.

4.  Have your child create their own color emotion art work.  There are a number of different ways and then have them tell you about their emotions and give you an example of each one and when they might feel like that.

5.  Long term project---- if your child struggles with emotions, maybe have a long piece of paper that you can label (Your Childs Name) Emotions!  And then they can go to it every time they feel different things and draw with the color that represents that emotion.  Then you have a place to begin a conversation with them.

Anyway, tell me how you are feeling?

Currently: My Life

Currently dreaming of hot weather and days by the pool.  Mr. and I are heading to Scottsdale, AZ in April with another couple and I am so excited!!!  We rarely, on three previous occasions, have done a trip without the children and I think this is going to be a blast.  Although I really enjoy having the  kids along, I also feel that when opportunity presents itself for Mr. and I to make new memories, just us, it's something that helps us reacquaint ourselves with the carefree, fun, younger and more adventurous versions of ourselves and reminds us why we decided to do life together in the first place.  Also super pumped to have a real life meeting with Jodie from Jodie's Touch of Style.

Currently reading The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah and so far so good.  I absolutely loved her book the Nightingale, and in fact it was my favorite book of  2018!  I recently finished reading The Plum Tree by Ellen Marie Wiseman, and  I give it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!  It's set during WWII in Germany.  It follows a young woman, in love with a Jew, and how she copes with the years of racism, fear, war, and disappointment in her own country.  It's an excellent read, with romance, history, family, internal conflict, as well as an interesting perspective of how German people felt, lived and coped with the war.

Currently watching The Bachelor, CAN"T STOP!!!!  HELP!  Who will Peter choose?  How will it all end?  Ah, the drama.  LOL!
Also watching the series  Offspring on Netflix and absolutely love following Nina's life over  seven seasons.  Watching her quirky self, along with her family and friends navigate modern life is hilarious.  This is a great show to binge watch and I enjoy ending my hectic days with it.

Currently eating EVERYTHING.  Seriously, the snacking at night needs to STOP.  Sigh.  I mentioned out loud that I was thinking of doing a No Junk Food challenge and the kids want in too.  We actually eat very healthy but all have our own type of treat daily, so we are seriously debating doing it and supporting each other starting Monday.  You heard it here first.

Currently it's still WINTER but I am hopeful we will have the arrival of an early spring.  So currently my wardrobe still consists of sweaters, leggings/pants, boots, warm coats, toques and mitts.  Here are a few of my favorite outfit selfies from the last month.

Currently BUSY.  I know everyone is, but work has been super busy and it's report cards and interview time in the life of a teacher.  As a mom we are getting into dance competition season.  So I decided at the beginning of 2020 to take a week to unplug during each season.  I will be unplugged from Monday, March 9 -15th.  No FB.  No IG.  No blog post next week.  Sorry, I just have to do this. Thank you for being so kind and understanding.  I'll be back Friday, March 20th with new energy!  Until then 😘.
