Hanging With My Bestie in Cowboy Boots

This city girl got to go a little country last Friday night!  You guys I don't think I can ever go back to regular concert seats.  We were on the floor, close enough to touch miss Carrie Underwood, no wonder I feel like she is a bestie now.  LOL.  She might not know my "last name" (if you are a Carrie Underwood fan you'll get that) but for 2 hours straight I felt like I was a part of her little show.  My friend Heather and I bought these tickets last July when they went on sale and we had a blast spending Friday night dancing and singing.  I've mentioned my friend Heather a few times over the years on the blog, she is intelligent, kind, and brings a calming and collected presence into my life.  I always feel inspired, reflective and happier when I spend time with her.  

The Carrie Cry Pretty tour and stage was unreal.  You guys, she just had a baby like 4.5 months ago and she killed it.  Working that stage for 2 hours is all the cardio that girl needs.  She did not STOP.  Plus every single costume change made this girls mouth drop open.  I wish I could be in her closet.

Speaking of outfits and closets, I picked out my outfit at least a month prior to the concert.  I love my cowboy boots, see here and here, but I don't really wear them on a regular basis, so anytime an opportunity remotely presents itself, I am all over that.  Knowing that the weather was going to be nice I went classic with a little denim skirt, printed tank top and my duster cardigan.  Added a little subtle bling with my rose gold hoops, fabfitfun "love" necklace and a thrifted cross-body bag.  I bought NOTHING, all from my closet and I love how it came together.  Truth be told, I've actually worn this exact outfit twice now, once for a cabaret and the concert.

Styling My Way Through a Corn Maze: White Jeans Outfit #2

One of my favorite family traditions that we have as a family is going to Youth Bible Corn Maze in Rosthern.  Years ago we stumbled upon it somehow and just kept returning to it time and time again, until it became a fall tradition for our family, read about last years adventures here.  Over the years have watched the business grow and include more and more things to do and explore.  There are the two corn mazes, kids and adults, petting zoo, climbing wall, pumpkin patch picture area, train rides, etc.  We've done it all over the many years we've gone but the last two years the exciting thongs for the girls have been conquering both mazes and finding all four secret stamps.  This year we started in the adult maze because it took us forever last year, like a solid hour, but this year we found the three stamps within the first 15 minutes.  We just got really lucky but then we ventured into the kids maze feeling pretty cocky and it took us at least a half-hour to find the one stamp.  I guess you just never know when you'll get lucky and choose all the right turns and when you wont.  Hahaha.  Either way we got all four stamps and the kids were thrilled!  What a wonderful way to spend a glorious Sunday afternoon as a family.

Now on to the outfit.  If you stopped by last Friday you know that I have three ways to wear white jeans in the fall, see outfit #1 HERE.  For the corn maze I used country style for inspiration.  It was the white jeans that I started with when picking out this outfit, it was that I really wanted to wear my cowboy boots that don't get a lot of love in the city.  That was my starting point and then my plaid shirt complements the colors on the cowboy boots so well, plus is PLAID (enough said).  Because I layered a black tank underneath so I could knot tie my shirt without belly showing, I figured the white jeans were the perfect contrast and pop of color for this outfit.  I absolutely love how easy, relaxed, natural and perfectly this outfit came together for this particular event.  Honestly I really wanted to just go all causal and natural, minimal make-up (foundation, mascara and lip chap ) and blow-dried my hair, that's it.   This look would work for any country outing, pumpkin patch, apple patch, zoo trip or a stroll through the woods.

City Girl, Country Girl

This city girl had an absolutely fabulous weekend from start to finish.  The highlight of the weekend for sure was the GARTH BROOKS concert we went to with  friends.  I have always liked Garth Brooks but I was not even close to a die hard fan, well I AM NOW!!!  The man is amazing.  He is a hard worker.  A lover of music.  Extremely talented.  Dedicated to his job, family and fans.  He did 6 shows in our city in 4 days and each one was full of energy and pure love.  Friday and Saturday evenings, he performed back to back shows.  We went to the late show which officially started at 10:30, but due to the large crowds was delayed.  That didn't mean that Garth didn't give it his all, nope he played from 11:15 p.m.-1:36 a.m.  We did not stop singing and dancing the entire time. Our seats were unreal, so we got some sweet video's, check it out below.

What did I wear?!?  Well, I was pretty pumped to get my country girl outfit all ready.  My cowboy boots, which I recently purchased while out shopping with my eldest daughter.  A mini jean skirt I snagged off of a local buy and sell for a sweet $5 just for this occasion.  Finally, this bohemian top that I adore and immediately fell in love with from H & M.  I love the shoulder cut outs, the whole peek-a-boo style.  I also love the the embroidery on the front of the shirt that shoes a little bit of skin, or the illusion of skin, right down the middle but doesn't give anything away (for work, I wear a tank underneath it and a longer skirt :)
