Giving Thanks 2022

Happy Thanksgiving Canadian friends!  A day to reflect and give thanks to everything good in our lives, and even the challenges in our lives are put there to teach us something.  There are so many things in my life that I am extremely grateful and thrilled to be able to experience but ultimately it all comes down to the people and the relationships with those people.  Here are my top 5 things I am grateful in life.

1.  My family.  Both my husband and my girls, but also our extended families.  They are there to support, celebrate and cheer us on.  My husband continues to be a strong and collaborative partner, and I am so grateful for that as we enter a season of parenting that we find difficult.  There I said it! Parenting teens, although the girls are wonderful in so many ways, has been hard for us as we find the balance of letting go, but also still wanting to connecting with them and continue to invest in our family.  It's a season of learning for us and I hope that other parents of teens know that they are not alone in these times change, growth and learning.  Regardless of the challenges I am so thankful to have two healthy, happy, children that made me a mom.

2.  Our friends.  Like family, our closest friends do the same for us as family.  I always think of my friends as the family I got to choose.

3. Our cabin.  A piece of haven, right here on earth.

4.  My career and the team at work.  People at work, the students, families, and most importantly my collegues, make going to work sustainable and usually a place of joy.

5.  My heath and my body.  It keeps me going and doing all the things that I love to do.
It's a simple list and I could get really specific but it really does boil down to these daily interactions that make me happy and healthy.

It was a small Thanksgiving for us, as Logan got COVID and his last day of COVID jail was yesterday. Since our plans with family fell through it was just the four of us but I still decided to make a big meal to enjoy as a family.  I also, got dressed up because it made the day more special and cooking in the kitchen all day seem separate from the actual meal.  I put on this lightweight, flowy (so I could eat all the turkey, buns and pie), accordian pleated dress from Aritzia, and accented it with gold jewlery.  I love how olive and gold work together and I finally dug out my favorite boots from last year to pair with them.  I think I am actually going to wear this exact same outfit this week for our admin meeting.

Ageless Style: Ponchos, Puppies and Sweater Dresses

Hello Ageless Style friends and followers.  Welcome to the middle of February!!!!  This month is flying by and I am a-okay with that.  I am sorry that I have been MIA for a week but I ended up kind of taking an unplanned break from lots of things in my day to day life including social media, blogging, rigorous exercise, and daily tasks.  I just hit a wall and allowed myself to ride it out for 5 days, which left me feeling refreshed and excited to reclaim my routine.  So I am back!

Today I am teaming up with the lovely ladies form the Ageless Style series to show our interpretations of Joanne's, from my Slices of Life blog, prompt of capes & ponchos.  A few weeks ago, Oreo girl went to get a little pampering at the groomers and had a bath and a cut around the face, ears and feet, and we decided to take photos while we were downtown.  It was actually not too cold and perfect for a sweater dress and poncho look.  If you live in milder winters, I think this is the perfect layered look especially for a winter to spring transition outfit.  In all honestly, here its much too cold to be without a wool coat, mittens and a beanie, but come late March, I maybe could pull this off in real time.  I love, the colors in this look, and the white boots made a comeback, see another way to style them here.  This sweater dress is a favorite and so very warm.  It's a heavier blend and perfect for winter dressing up.  The ponchos pastel colors add just the amount of color without taking over the outfit, and letting the jewelry kind of shimmer and shine.  For a more casual poncho style look check here.

I loved how this  prompt came together and even more glad that I dug out my poncho out of my closet.  It really hasn't been styled much this fall/winter.  Are you still holding on to your poncho, scarves or capes, or do you feel they are out of style these days?

Make sure to link-up your favorite outfits below and check out all the other ladies and their styles.  Also, next week my family and I are off on a vacation to the mountains.  A much anticipated trip, especially since we ended up canceling our trip to Mexico.  I will not be posting next Monday but I will be back on Monday, Feb. 28th.  Make sure to follow us along on IG!

Fall and Winter in One Outfit

First off, to my U.S. followers, happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.  I wish you a wonderful weekend celebrating and reflecting with the people you love.

Just one month ago this is what autumn looked like in my part of the world but since then winter has arrived with it's frigid cold temperatures and some white stuff to keep us busy and fit shoveling it off off our walkways and driveways.  Needless to say just last weekend I placed these favorite culottes away for warmer days in hopefully the spring.

What I didn't have to put away though is this cozy, embroidered sweater that I received last year for Christmas.  Sweater weather is my favorite and  I have big plans for styling this one over and over again  this winter.  The colors present in the sweater allow you to pull together so many different color combinations and the ones I am most excited are the casual jean look on repeat from last year, here, oxblood corduroy skirt I recently picked up at ON, and pairing it up with my trusted suede skirt for the office, just to name a few.  Stay tuned.

Also, white booties!!!!  Mine are OLD and really need to be replaced but I love how white booties just make a statement on their own so I am really hoping to replace them through JustFab this winter.

What pieces are you excited to add to your closet?
