Ageless Style: Tweed & Link-Up

Welcome back to the first 2026 installment of Ageless Style.  If you are new, welcome to our all-inclusive blog that celebrates women from all different walks of life.  We are so happy to have you here.  I hope 2026 is treating you well.  

This month we are styling tweed.  I have featured this tweed coat on the blog a few different times, here and this really fun post that was inspired by fashion TV show icons here.  Even though it's not new to the blog,  I think it's the perfect color to mix into my more neutral winter pallet and it comes just in time to give a little nod to Valentines Day.  I absolutely love this little jacket and wear it all the time instead of a cardigan or blazer.  I especially love the detailed gold buttons.  Although this exact jacket is no longer available, I have linked a few similar options below.

I wanted to show three different ways to style it for the office or for a casual weekend day.  I kept things pretty simple keeping the jewelry similar and switching out the footwear and purse to suite the different vibe. All three of these outfits are ones that I've worn in my real life.  

#1 Cloud Dancer White

If you haven't heard, Pantone named "Cloud Dancer" the color of the year.  It signifies serenity, new beginning and reflection.  I am here for all of those things.  In the first look I played with bright white and an off white, creme colored wide-leg pants, finishing it off with cream colored pumps.  The pink, gold and brown really elevate this outfit while still making it classy and keeping the pink tweed the star of the show.  

#2 Black and Pink

Instead of white, now I played with keeping everything in the black family but I added a little spunk with the snakeskin boots.  They definitely stand out in this outfit, but I think it makes the outfit fun and a little unexpected.  What do you think?

#3 Pink Sneaks

Keeping it casual on the weekend or if your workplace has casual Fridays like mine, I think this is the perfect outfit.  The tweed coat is classy and feminine, while the rest of the outfit is weekend vibes coming in hot.  I especially love that my Adidas sneaks have hot pink accents.

Continental Drift: A Day in My Life & a Link-Up

Welcome to another addition of the Continental Drift.  This month we are showing you what our day to day life looks like in each part of the world, and across age groups.  Below is a standard day in my life, it was sort of difficult to keep track of the hours, minutes and what's actually happening in my life to be honest.  Hahaha.  Hope you enjoy the glimpse.  

6:00  a.m.  Dragged myself out of bed finally, even though I had been awake for close to a half an hour.

6:30 am This is a weekly outing with my bestie Amber.  We clocked 7 km by the river and it was beautiful, crisp morning run and it was still light at that hour.  Now it's pretty much dark until 7:30 a.m. so we are running in the darkness of the morning.  

7:30- 8:00 a.m.  Busy morning ritual goes something like this coffee, shower, makeup, hair, and dress.

8:10 a.m. Breakfast & cuddles with Anya before heading out the door.  She even snapped an outfit photo of me before I head out to a PD session.

9:00-11:30 Attended a PD session on the developmentally progression of  phonological awareness. 

11:45 a.m. I picked Anya up for a lunch date at home.  This was in early September and she was just adjusting to the new school and still in the process of making friends.  I tried to hook up with her for lunch to give her a break but the good news is, she no longer wants me to do that because she has made friends and looks forward towards lunch hours and recesses.  

1:30 Epic three hour leadership meeting.  Absolutely exhausted.

5:15 Made it home to make coffee and restart my system for the evening.  I often need to refuel with coffee to make it through the evening.

5:45 p.m. I went to pick  Halie up from the mall.  I was super  annoyed with her for spending her money on Dollarama junk.  Anyone else?  This is something I am trying to work on.  I hate that she spends $ on stupid stuff but do I have a right since it's her money?  She seems to be a horder and also seems to struggle going anywhere without spending her money.  Advice, please!

6:00 Supper.   I am so thankful that I  make supper  the night before and often I make enough to last us tow nights.  This was night #1, so  we had supper already made for the next night too.  No cooking!!!!

6:45 p.m. My family cleaned up supper and I had a quick cat nap.  I do these to still my mind and I do them most days.  15 minutes does me a world of good but I never go more than 15 minutes, or allow myself to actually fall into a deep sleep. 


7-8:30 p.m. Tidy Tuesday. This means  everyone cleans.   The kids attack their rooms, Logan vacuums and I  switched Anya's closet over from summer to fall.  This requires go through her drawers and bring up the next box of her sisters hand-me downs.  We are ready to donate a large bin of clothes that she no longer fits.

8:30 p.m.  Finally it's bedtime for the kids, which means it takes until 9 p.m. before they were actually in their beds.  

9-9:30 p.m.  This is the time I sit down to do some work/catch up on the social media (blog, IG, FB).  I have gotten itno the habit of  setting a timer so I don't get distracted and don't overdo it.  I also enjoyed a glass of wine and got a blog post accomplished (not this one).  

9:30 Picked out my outfit for work and took out my workout clothes for another 6 a.m. workout.  Washed my face, etc.  

9:45 Joined my hubby for a show and to finish off my glass of wine.   Currently watching Suits, Champions & Nashville.

Life here in Saskatchewan, Canada is enjoyable and comforting for the most part.  It’s true that winter runs its course for way too long, approximately 6 months of the year from mid-October to mid-April, leavening all the other seasons to equally share the remaining 6 months.  The winters can be classified as cold and bitter cold, as the wind sweeps across the prairies and chills us to the bone.  Yes, it sounds gloomy and depressing, and honestly every March I struggle to keep my positivity at the forefront, but the saving grace is that we also have a great deal of sunshine.  Even in the coldest moments, if I can feel the sun on my face it brightens my mood. 

So what do we do all winter you ask?  Hibernate?  Stay in doors?  Crawl under blankets and sleep the days away?  NOPE.  Life must go on, much like the show.  We are fortunate to have the ability to buy relatively good winter apparel for ourselves and the girls so we get outdoors and enjoy winter activities as much as we can when the weather is decent. 

We ski/snowboard.

We skate. 

We cross-country ski.

We go for walks.

We go sledding.

We play in the snow. 

We enjoy the indoor pools on the weekends.

We play board games. 

We bake.  We cook.  We craft. 

Sometimes we take a hot holiday to get away from the cold for a little while (not this year though ☹)

We try to the make the most of the winter we have. And then when summer comes, we enjoy the heat, the long hours of daylight and the sun that shines brightly most of the time. 

 

 

 

My favorite memory from March is that my 8-year-old Anya wrapped up her figure skating lessons for another year.  She passed badge 5 in Advance Can Skate and was so confident to step out on the ice with her peers for their little number to Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic.  She was all poses and smiles for the camera the morning of her dress rehearsal.  This kid is just full of charisma, attitude and spunk.  We are proud of the progress she made this year in her skating and hope that she continues to enjoy it next year.

A Little on the Flirty Side & Thursday Moda Link-Up

 

 

 

 

My usual Fashion Friday post is coming live to you one day early this week as I co-host with the wonderful Ada over from Elegance & Mommyhood.   This is the second time Ada has invited me to co-host her Thursday link-up party with her in the past year and has showed me a tremendous amount of support since I've started my blog.  Ada, mom to the sweetest 5-year old girl named Vivian, who also makes a lot of appearances on the blog. This blog showcases Ada’s personal style as a mom, a woman on the go and as a career woman. She often shows Mommy+Mini Outfits of her and her daughter. It is also a blog about real life updates, current events and her poetry. Ada has been running her successful Thursday Moda linkup every Thursday for two years straight. One of the color combination that really caught my eye this year while perusing Pinterest was moss green, light blue and mauve.  I had the idea to put the moss green with my chambray top for a cute transition into spring look.  Unfortunately the day I was going to take pictures also happened to be the day right after we had a massive dump of snow :)  To see this look with little booties and a more  appropriate office version, click HERE. 

 

For a fun little twist, I decided to tie a front knot in my chambray shirt.  Generally, I am on the shy side when it comes to showing my mid-riff but I think it's pretty cute and still age appropriate.  The knot dresses the classic pleated skirt down a bit and makes it just a tad flirty.  This outfit makes me feel young and carefree, which is not my regular state of mind these days.  Heehee.

 

I am very much looking forward to swapping my winter closet out and bringing in my spring wardrobe, which I started doing this past weekend.  I am ready to say hello to color, bight florals, open toed shoes, flats, and light layers.
