Ageless Style: Styling Stripes for Spring 2024

Welcome to another installment of Ageless Style, where you will find ladies from across North America, of different ages, styles and backgrounds coming together to share our style with you.  This months prompt, styling stripes for spring 2024, is brought to you by Joanne from My Slice of Life.

I have been loving my button down white shirt for a couple of seasons so I already had my eye on the same style but wanted to add subtle stripes to it.  I love a good traditional stripped tee and always have one in my closet, but since I work in a business casual environment a button down goes a long way.  When I am looking for a button down, I want light weight, loose, flowy structure. I remember when button downs were super stiff and stuffy.  No thank you!  Anyway, I found this one at Marshalls and instantly loved that it wasn't a blue and white version (nothing wrong with that!) as I really wanted a subtle sage or buttery yellow one.  I've already worn this several times and I think it'll continue to be in heavy rotation all year round.  For todays post, I wanted to show you four ways I'll be wearing to work, for causal days and even into summer.

Office Style:  Olive Pants, Button Down, White Purse & Nude Pumps

These wide leg trousers are amazing you guys!  They are the perfect weight, don't wrinkle easily and I purchased them in petite and they are the perfect length for me, I am 5'4" for reference, wearing a size small.  Awesome price point too!

Casual: Denim skirt, Button Down & White Sneakers

Classic:  White Pants, Button Down, Red Lipstick and Funky Heels

These pumps are so fun!  Yes they are big but I got these little gel inserts that ensure my foot doesn't slip up/down as well as they add comfort.  I love the funky design and although I don't wear them everyday, I love to spruce up an outfit for a day of meetings or when I am going out!

Summer Style:  Denim Shorts, White bodysuit, Button Down & Sunnies

Your turn!  How would you style a button-down stripped shirt?  Which look is your favorite?

Dance Mom Era Style

I never in a million years saw myself as a dance mom, but here I am so proud to be one.  Both girls gravitated to dance several years back and as I searched for a studio that was the right fit for our family I prioritize these three things.

  1. Movement, creativity and love of dance over competition and perfection.  We began in the non-competitive stream and eventually joined the competitive one as the girls made that decision.
  2. Studio with a focus on empowering and encouraging dancers at all skill levels and of all body types.
  3. A studio that stayed relatively close by for competitions to reduce travel costs, so that we could continue to travel as family as we choose.
I am happy to say that I feel like our studio meets all these requirements and has given my youngest not only  wonderful  dance training, but also a community of lovely girls that support and encourage one another.  My oldest left dance when she had to make a choice between dance and horseback riding but was very happy at the same studio while she was there.  So now Anya dances in five group dances and is doing her first solo this dance season.  It gives me joy to watch her on the stage on the days when she is flawless and also the times when disappointment hits.

So as we went  a busy competition season, I decided to make this sweatshirt with my Cricut.  I purchased the crew neck at Ardenes and it's soooooo soft you guys.  I love springy light pink color and then I purchased the Dance Mom Era svg from here.  I absolutely love how it turned out and its been in heavy rotation over the past three weeks.  Love it casually styled with jeans/joggers and white sneaks.
