New Year’s Eve Glamour: The Power of a Statement Fur Coat

Friends, how did you ring in the New Year?  For us it varies from year to year, sometimes its a small gathering of friends at the lake, at home, sometimes we go out and this year we had a WEDDING, which was so much fun!  Over the years we've attended a few NYE weddings and it's kind of awesome.  What better way to ring in the new year than to witness a lifelong commitment to love one another.

I love an occasion to get all dressed up and I wasn't about to let this one pass me by.  I asked my IG friends for some helping in choosing a dress for the occasion and then I got our my mother's fur coat.  she gave it to me a year ago and last year I wasn't hesitant to wear it because if I am being honest, I didn't want to get into it with anyone over real fur and moral beliefs, etc.  Since then I've decided that I do want to wear it because it's passed down, vintage so not something new, and otherwise it's sitting in my closet collecting dust and frankly that's non-sense.  If you don't agree, I ask you to kindly glance over this post and just move past it 😉.  I love you and thank you for being here either way.  🫶

I wore my new  Hillberg and Berk drop earrings (currently on sale!) that I received from my sister as a gift this holiday season and a bracelet (similar) that I had purchased previously.  I also borrowed my BFFs vintage purse that fit everything I needed in it.  Needless to say everything I wore to this wedding came from my closet or was borrowed for the occasion.

So the four dresses I toyed with wearing were,

  1. Classy in Pearls
  2. Sparkle & Shine
  3. Long & Classic
  4. Feathery Fun

For a while it was a tight race between #2 and #3 but in the end the long and classic Ted Baker dress had 41% vote and having a chance to wear a long dress felt just right.  I love the midnight blue color, how it falls on my body and it was so comfortable to dance in.

And DANCE we did!!!!!  We closed out the wedding at 2:30 a.m. like a bunch of youngsters.  We had the best time with reconnecting with my husbands family, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from his childhood.  I didn't take many pictures of the wedding because we were fully immersed in the event and enjoying ourselves, plus I am always cautious not to put pictures of others on my blog/IG if I don't have their permission.

Your turn!  How did you ring in the New Year?  At home? Out? With the kids, friends, family, alone?
Either way, I hope 2026 is off to a good start for you.  I hope it brings you and your loved ones health first and foremost, and then happiness, peace and adventures big and small.
