Fashion Friday: What I Wore to Versailles Palace

I really wanted to share with you this dress that I purchased last summer and recently wore in Disney World but didn't take pictures of.  I remembered that I meant to feature it last summer but never did.  As I dug through my files  I stumbled upon the time I wore it to Versailles Palace.

Throwback to almost a year ago when Logan and I went on our first grown-up trip without the kids to London and Paris.  To say that it was a trip of a lifetime seems like an understatement.  There were numerous highlights from that trip but touring the Versailles Palace and the Louvre were up there as my top three of that trip.  To be totally honest I didn't love Paris, but Versailles Palace took my breath away.  It's so grand. I remember just walking up to the gates and even though it was crawling with tourists, once we were inside, we felt  like there was so much space.  It  was full of grand, over the top, rich, gold-tones and everything one imagine a palace would have.

The inside was stunning and that goes without saying, but once I stepped into the gardens I felt like I was in heaven.  As far as you could see if was just lush greenery and beautiful walking paths.  Logan and I spent a good two hours walking  and finding new little paths to explore.  And when nature calls and you are in the middle of nowhere, well you got to do, what you got to do.  Haha.

Another highlight from that day was renting a little boat and having my man row me around.  Hahaha.  I did some rowing too, but for a few minutes I felt like I was living someone else's life.  A life of leisure.  A life of a princess.  A fairy-tale.

It's so fun to go back and look at old photos.  I feel so sentimental right now and I am reminded once again how lucky I am to live the life I am living.

  1. Versailles is on the top of my must do list and I can just imagine what the gardens would be like. I think I would like the green spaces more than the castle!

  2. So glad you posted this. Funny thing today (as I type this actually) I am wearing a similarly-patterned light blue and navy dress and also wore mine with flats. I was thinking the whole time how it would be the perfect outfit to pack while strolling the streets of Europe. Great minds think alike. Your Versailles trip sounds amazing!

    1. Jill it was so worth it. And the rowboat, well what girl doesn't want to be a princess/lady of leisure? Haha. At least for a few minutes of the day.

  4. I love wearing dresses for travelling, and I would love to go to Versailles! I have been to Paris but we didn't have enough time for the palace. Hopefully I get to try and visit another time!
