Red Pants for Valentines Day, or Any Other Day

Is it really a Valentine's Day outfit?!?  Not really.  I'd wear it ANY day of the week.  These cropped  red pants have been on repeat since last spring when I picked them up on a "sisters weekend" trip up to Edmonton, AB.   I love the way I styled them with my polka dot top in the spring, see here, but I am also digging this winter outfit with a simple black turtleneck and some booties.  I love how a black turtleneck comes off polished, strong and sophisticated.  It also helps create  very definitive lines and curves.  It took me a while to find the right turtleneck last winter but once I did, I instantly knew it.

Anyway, we are very low key for Valentines day.  No presents.  No special plans.  Not even  cards honesty.  We just never really got into it as a couple.  Sure when we were in high school, we bought the cheap heart shaped boxes of chocolates and a card, but we don't even make an effort anymore.  This is not to be confused with not caring or not putting each other first.  We do.  But I think we do these things throughout the year that V-Day just isn't really a big deal to us.  We  used to schedule a  date nights every month or month an a half,  but now that the girls are so much more independent we actually spend a lot more quality time just doing stuff like skiing together, going for walks, going shopping, walking around our city, etc.  That all being said, my perfect date night is going for dinner or a walk in our city, and then winding up at home with a good bottle of wine and delicious chocolates from a specialty chocolate store such as Purdys.  Also last year we were in Mexico and I loved getting all dressed up for to celebrate the holiday, see here.  In fact that was my  favorite Valentines Day  outfit and date ever 💗.

This year we'll drive up to the lake for an extra long weekend as a family.  We might visit with the neighbors, enjoy outdoor activities, play some games, but Logan and I will likely end our evenings together exactly like this, having a glass of wine together.  It's perfect to me.
So what are your Valentine's Day plans?

  2. So glad to see Mr. Bo! Y'all are a precious couple. And I am with you, we shouldn't need a holiday to remind us to love each other! I much prefer impromptu bouquets and boxes of chocolates and weekend get-aways.
Those are some darling red pants! Love the cropped length and that they are fitted at the calf and not wide. I haven't embraced the wide leg cropped pants yet but maybe this spring. Need to style my red pants, too.

    1. I am 100% with you on the bouquets, chocolates and weekend get=aways. We kind of have to work on our relationship all year long. Hahaha. I have one pair of wide coulettes and I adore them but I think you just have to find the right ones. I tried many before I found mine in London, several years ago now but I still keep them in my closet.

I love the shorter pant with your booties - so chic!

  5. What a fun pair of pants: great for year round and a nice pop of color for dreary winter days. We are the same for Valentine's. The first few years we were married we went out, and did the gift thing. Now that we try to go out more often and are able to do the occasional walk or outing without the kiddos, it doesn't feel like a necessity.I usually do try to write the hubby a sweet card.

    1. I know, it seems to come with age and changes in how you value spending your time. We are in the same boat, with kids being older we are getting more quality interactions more naturally so it's not as difficult to connect.

  7. I know what you mean! We don't do a big celebration for Valentine's Day. We normally spend it at home and just have fun cooking a nice meal together. It's the little things we do throughout the year that count!

    1. I love the idea of cooking a meal together. That would be so nice but I really like my kitchen a certain way so I wonder if it would get in my way of just enjoying out time. That being said, I think I am going to look into a local cooking class because then it's not in my kitchen! Thanks for the idea.

  10. We don’t celebrate big on Valentine’s Day either. I spoil my daughter with a few gifts and a heart donut or something special like that. My husband and I exchange cards and I made homemade lasagna every year. I like to keep it low key like that. Love the outfit!

    1. I really like the idea of a predictable meal, making it a ritual year after year. I also like the idea of Shari a special treat with your child.

  11. Those red pants are so cute on you! We don't really celebrate Valentine's Day either. Wine, chocolates and relaxing at home sounds like a perfect evening!

  12. Those pants are great on you and a fun way to dress for the day without going over the top! We don't really do Valentine's day here so your day sounds like a lovely one! It's just another day for us :) I did use the day as an excuse to treat ourselves to takeaway and not cook dinner though, haha!

Hope that you had a wonderful weekend :)

  14. Ooh, I do love red pants! I need a new pair. Mine got a little faded and don’t fit quite right anymore. I love this outfit on you. So pretty! We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day either. Although I did buy some 50% off Valentine’s candy the other day that my husband and I enjoyed last night after the children went to bed! Thanks for linking up with me.
