Spring Dress: Flirty and Smooth

Finding normal in the third wave of the pandemic has been somewhat challenging.  I think part of me kept wishing and hoping that life would surely return to normal one year post shut down but it hasn't worked out like that.  That being said we've gotten into new habits and they aren't all bad, such as walking outdoors daily, seeing friends but only outdoors including in the winter months, my youngest daughter and friends have been gathering outdoors for old school games and using the playground.  Last Friday evening we unexpectedly had kid free time upon us, Anya was going to the park with friends and Halie was at horseback riding for a few hours and my dad had taken her.  Mr. and I got a little dressed up and headed out on a beautiful spring evening.  Since we are back to only having immediate family in our homes, although we can sit outdoors with up to 10 people, and we can be at a restaurant in groups of four, we gave friends a call to see if they wanted to meet up for patio drinks.  My BFF/ running mate  and her husband joined us and we had the BEST time.  We laughed, like belly laughed, while being watched and attacked by pigeons.  We talked about serious stuff but also laughed about parenting tweens and shared stories of the past.  It was an evening that filled my bucket and my JOY meter was once again full.

I also took the opportunity to snap some photos of my outfit for the blog.  You guys, I get sooooooo embarrassed when people see me taking photos!  Anyone else?  Any tips?  I just hate it.  Anyway, I love this dress and it's absolutely perfect, I think it's the perfect combination of being flirty but smooth.  One of the Pantone colors for spring is green ash, and they describe it as " a mentholated green that cools and soothes." I love it's simplicity, but also the flirty cute ruffle sleeves e.  Another great feature of the dress is the fuller skirt that begs a person to do a twirl, which of course I just couldn't resist.  I paired the dress with some striped wedges, stacked delicate bracelets for a little bling, clutch and my trench coat but I also think this would be super cute with a denim jacket.  This is my first spring purchase this year and I got it from a friend that was running on online boutique but has since expanded her family and was selling out the last of her 2020 stock.  I've linked the dress by the same company below.

What are you adding to your spring wardrobe this year?

  1. That's such a lovely pastel dress for spring and I like the printed clutch and shoes with it too! :) it's nice you were able to get out with friends as well, although it's so sad you have a third wave :(

We are lucky life is back to normal here and any time there has been a case that's got out of quarantine it's all dealt with as anyone who was a contact goes into quarantine themselves, We are so lucky, I can't imagine dealing with second or third waves! You are so lucky that you all have the vaccine though, the vaccine we did have they are saying you can't get it you're under 50 and they might not have any new different vaccine until the end of the year :( So frustrating!

Hope that you are having a nice weekend! It's a long weekend here :)

    1. That's incredible how well you have been able to contain your COVID cases, I am so impressed. Our vaccination is full on and the health authorities are working hard to get everyone their first vaccines. As we get more people vaccinated our numbers are starting to stabilize and even (fingers crossed) go down. It's absolutely devastating

But on a happier note, I am so glad to be able to read a variety of life perspectives from around the globe. Have a great weekend!

  2. I love your flirty little dress! Such a pretty color! It sounds like you had an amazing evening! I feel you with the photos! It's getting easier but still makes me so uncomfortable when there are people around.

  3. I just ordered a pair of espadrilles yesterday with some reward points. Love this pretty outfit and sounds like you all had a great time. So good to get together with friends. I always get embarassed taking pictures especially for the blog because it is not just one snap of an outfit but usually 5 or 6 pictures in different poses. I just try to ignore other or find quiet spots.

    1. I love being able to hear that others struggle with it too. I am usually pretty humble so I feel embarrassed that people might think that I think I am all that and then some. LOL. So silly really, because most other things I've just learned not to be bothered with other peoples opinions. Anyway, thank you for the lovely compliment.

  4. Such a pretty dress and I just love the sleeves and those sandals with it. It sounds like your running partner is a close friend, too and it is nice you can all hang out as couples!! Oh, I know. Parenting tweens/teens is so mentally draining at times, but still very rewarding and fun.

    1. I am so lucky Carrie. We've been friends since the summer we were 15 & 16. For many years we didn't live in the same place/city and at time in the same country, yet we continued to stay close and connect. Then she finally settled here with her family and it's just been wonderful.

Teens/tweens, oh man. There are times I just want to share ALL the things but I don't beecause they are on social media and it's embarrassing but I do find it tough at times as all my friends still have little ones and mine are 5 or more years ahead. But the perks are pretty sweet too. :)

  7. Bo, you are so beautiful! I love this mint color on you. What a gorgeous dress. And your striped espadrilles are so cute. I am glad that you were able to enjoy time with your friends on an unexpected kid free night! I hope restrictions start to ease for you soon. I still have trouble keeping track of what's going on in the world so I am grateful to all of my international blogging friends for keeping me up to speed!

  8. The short sleeve womens bodysuit adds that sensuous edginess and slightly quirky feel that separates the women from the girls. If they look at you once, they will look at you thrice! Bare gleaming arms and the bodysuit are a match made in heaven and they way we style it, you are going to enjoy wearing it
