Ageless Style: Corn Maze Outfit

Welcome to the Ageless Style link-up!  We are always here the third Thursday of the month to show you how ladies across the country, various ages and styles put together outfits for anyone to copy.  Todays prompt is What You Would Wear to a Fall Event by Cathy from My Side of 50.

When I think of "fall" I think our annual trip to the corn maze.  it's been our tradition for many years, I think close to 12, and this year unseasonably warm.  We decided to take the trip out as a family on a sunny, Sunday afternoon to close out the weekend.  We split into two teams, mom and dad vs. the teeens and you know what, the teens beat us in both the kids and the adult maze.  LOL!  We walked around and interacted with a few animals and that was a wrap.  If I am being honest, it didn't have the same vibe for us this year.  The girls were less interested, even though they said they wanted to go, and it was just okay.  We likely will be taking a break from it for the next few seasons because the girls just didn't get the same joy out of it and frankly the cost is too high to just like it okay.  Another indication that our lives and our family time is changing.  We are looking for new things to enjoy as a family but also letting some of it go for the time being.  Maybe the Mr. and I are just going to have to look for some things that we can enjoy as a pair.  What do you think?

Outfit formula, jeans, tee, top layer and sneakers.  I do love a casual fall outfit that can be worn when going to a corn maze, apple picking, pumpkin patch, etc.  I pulled out my trusted buffalo plaid schaket and threw it over a striped tee, a little pattern mixing, and white sneakers.  Friends if you are looking for some nice tees in neutral colors, as well as striped, that fit nice, are super soft and aren't see threw, I've finally found some at RW & Co!  Who thought basic tees would be so difficult to come by.  As for the shacket this one is lightweight, so more shirt than jacket, and was Costco steal last fall.  I wear it at the lake and for hiking all the time!

Now make sure to link up and visit all the ladies of Ageless Style!  If you want to join us and style along with us our prompts for November is fall layers, and December is all about styling those skinny jeans that may still be in your closet.

  1. I ended up going to the corn maze with my youngest on his field trip this year and he loved it. Last year we went as a family and it was not cheap. I wasn't too sorry that our weekends have been too busy to go as a family. Definitely starts changing when the kiddos get into those teen years. I am noticing that with my oldest.

    1. It's so true and I agree, it's not cheap so doing some of these things that they don't enjoy isn't worth it. We are thinking of trying a hunted house experience for adults instead. Eek.

  2. That's the point we're at too; my boys would go with me to the corn maze or the pumpkin patch or the apple orchard if I dragged them along but they are no longer excited about going so we just don't. Your outfit looks perfect though and I love that old truck! What a beautiful photo backdrop.

    1. It feels good to hear others are going through this and although it makes me sad, I know we can do other things together. Last night our teen daughter asked my husband and I to hot tub with her. Bonus!

  5. My favorite formula!! You can dress it up or down with accessories. Love the Buffalo plaid shirt and the pattern mixing. A+!!

We kind of felt the same way about the pumpkin patch/maze last year. It was miserably hot that day and that didn't help. My daughter was 7 months pregnant and we had a 1 year old along, too. This year was better, thank goodness.

    1. It changes with the years, doesn't it. Sometimes we also build it up and then it's a bit of a let down. We are thinking of trying a haunted house as a family, that's more my teens speed these days. Eeek.

  6. Not surprising how the family events end up evolving over time. But it's good to go with the flow!!
I just adore your print mixing with this Bo, and love how you included the family too.

    1. Absolutely! I think we all thought it was going to be great, but then it was okay and we have to be okay with that too. We did talk about checking out the adult haunted woods here that they have so maybe it'll be more my teens type of event, not mine as much. LOL!

  9. This is a cute outfit and exactly what I would wear to a fall outing. It’s timeless and so comfy! You can’t beat that. That’s a bummer though that the outing wasn’t as exciting. I know what you mean because my hubby is never into it! Lol But I would be so sad once the little guy stops liking it. Then again, new experiences are fun too!

  12. I feel this as a mom to teens!!! It is so true, old traditions are not the same and maybe some new ones need to be made or something as a couple! You looked so cute in that plaid shacket, it is so bright and colorful!
