Welcome to the Ageless Style monthly link-up! We always gather on the third Thursday of the month and this month Joanne from Slices of Life prompted us to think about essential fall layers. As you can see, fall has left and winter has arrived in Saskatchewan. Currently my main layers are my winter coat, toque and mitts, LOL. Although I have some really nice wool coats and a warm parka, today I am focusing on layers that I use indoors during work hours. I love me a good duster cardigan or a blazer, but I decided to go a completely different direction this year when I was choosing to invest my $. I decided on a vegan leather shacket. Right off the hop I wasn't drawn to black this season, but as soon as I saw this shacket in cognac I was in love. The leather jacket is super soft, and is lined with a soft, almost fleece like material, on the inside. It's an oversized fit, which I always have to get used to, and I find I like to wear with a more fitted bottom, skinny/straight leg jeans or a fitted dress, to create shape and dimension in my look. For reference I am wearing a small and honestly if they had an XS I would have been tempted to try that on, but sometimes you just have to try a different style on a few times so you get comfortable seeing a new silhouette on yourself. Overall I love my newest fall purchase and am happy that I stepped out of my comfort box and bought something new and different.
Since we are chatting about leather, I also want to draw your attention to the best backpack I've ever owned! This is the prefect size for work and it comes back and forth with me 5 days a week. It's in mint condition, a year after I purchased it, and it fits my laptop, journal, agenda, pens and a few other things. I absolutely love that it's not too big and keeps me limited to carrying only the work essentials. It's also awesome as a carry on when we travel.
Your turn, what are your essential layering pieces for fall or winter?

That looks like a great jacket for the snow! I always wear my leather moto jackets in winter, although it never snows here, haha!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link up! Hope you are having a lovely day :)

I wish I had a longer season for the moto jacket! They are such a great layer and a piece worth investing in.
DeleteOh, I so love pictures in the snow! We are hoping for some here this year! I love this new jacket of yours, it really looks like it would feel good on.

Hahaha isn't that the truth. I am looking forward to some FL sunny days in the next six months when we got to DisneyWorld.
DeleteI 100% hear you on wearing these layers indoors! We are also in coat season in Minnesota so thick shackets, quilted jackets, puffy vests...these are all indoor layering pieces now. The cognac color looks great on you - nice choice!
ReplyDeleteYou totally get it! I love all the things you listed off and have them all too!
DeleteI totally agree with having different sizes in our closet for different silhouettes!! And this is the best shacket. How funny, I just read Amy's and she wore a shacket too!!
ReplyDeleteNow I'd love to see you layer a faux fur vest over it...wouldn't that be cute?

So cute! Way back when I used to do the GYPO style challenges I had a fur vest but it's long gone now. Small closet space in our home so things are packed up and donated multiple times a year.
DeleteThe shacket looks brilliant on you.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much. Nice to switch it up and get away form black, which of course I love.
DeleteThat jacket looks incredible. I like the oversized look.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.
DeleteIt is like a winter wonderland there! Wow! I purchased a shacket last year, but it is a plaid one... but, ohhh I really love your leather shacket. The color is great and leather is SO trendy right now, I really need to add a leather piece or two to my closet!
