Rockies Trip Part 1: Après-ski

Over the February break our family, minus one kid, went to ski at Lake Louise, Alberta.  We love being out on the slopes and although we don't get to do it annual, we never regret going.  Lake Louise is part of the Canadian rocky mountains and is absolutely stunning, and offers up to 170 different runs for you to ski/snowboard.  It's picturesque and lined with trees all the way down the mountain, which is a long way, and has several look-out spots to take a break or snap some pictures.  We actually didn't stop much and we didn't take too many pictures because we were loving our time on the hill.

On our first day we had a huge dump of snow overnight and it continued into the day.  Driving to the hill, about 40 minutes from our AirBnB,  was treacherous because of how hard the snow was coming down.  That meant POWDER, POWDER and more POWDER, but it also meant that none of the runs were groomed so it was a grind at first but oh so fluffy!

The second day was less busy, clear, sunny and crisp.  The cold doesn't keep us away and since we had all of our passes, we were able to hit the hill before 10 a.m. and ride all day until 3:50 p.m. with one break for lunch.  The second day we spent a good chunk of our time exploring the back on the mountain and loving the fact that the runs were groomed, but also still lots of powder to go through,  and there was way less people on the hill.

Sometimes we skiied/snowboarded all together and other times the girls (Anya and her friend), and Logan and I, paired off and did our own thing.

Let's talk all about Après-ski, the way we rested and relaxed after a full-day on the hill.  LOL.  When we returned back to our condo, we were pretty wiped to be honest so we were thankful for the coziness and vastness of our AirBnB.  We hit up the local grocery store and made simple suppers, wine, snacks and movies.  One evening my girlfriend drove in from the city and spent the evening chilling with us.  We hit the hot tub, wine, and visited.  The second night after returning from the hill the girls were tired and we picked them up supper, while Logan and I went out to a local pub for dinner to celebrate his birthday.

This sweater that I got for Christmas was the perfect outfit for going out for a casual dinner and for exploring Canmore.  I love a good cozy knit and this one screams mountain getaway.  Now every time I wear it, I can just pretend I am back on holiday mountain mode.

Do you ski? Snowboard? Do you visit the mountains in your area of the world?

Sunday Comfort

Ahhhh.  Sundays.  On the one hand they are dreadful because you are beginning to think about the week ahead, on the other hand they are that last bit of rest and relaxation you have to take advantage of.  Most Sundays are spent  with numerous cuddles with Oreo, several cups of coffee throughout the day, taking walks in nature, meal prepping and mid-day naps.  If I do venture out in public or to the stores, which with Christmas being so close is a given,  this is exactly the type of outfit you will see me out and about in, casual comfort.  Another pair of pants snagged from the teens discarded pile, these wide leg cords have become a favorite for casual days at the school, for running errands, or just keeping it real in life.  They pair so well with the softest color block sweater I have ever owned!  I purchased this at a local boutique, Belong Lifestyle,  for $15 when it was their 'daily deal' and I've worn it so many times already.  Anytime I need to look put together and casual but feel like staying in bed, I reach for it.  In keeping with the casual look, I always throw on my trusted white sneakers, good for comfort and still on trend.  Basically, in December this is the outfit I would like to have on repeat between all the glitter, sequins and velvet that I absolutely adore.

What's your Sunday style?
