Fashion Friday: Three Simple Outfits For Every Woman

Hi friends!  Well the Get Your Pretty On Spring Style Challenge wrapped up last Sunday and I am going to share three outfits provided by Alison of GYPO that I loved from weeks 2 & 3, that  I feel any woman could re-create.  What you will discover is that the prompts provided are super simple and you are encourage to interpret, substitute and adjust the them to suite your daily lifestyle.  Here we go:

Simple Outfit #1

Prompt: Cardigan + Chambray Dress + Printed Scarf + Lace Up Flats

My style:  White jeans, basic tank, chambray shirt, my favorite necklace/locket, peep-toe booties and my trusted Nine West spring purse (which I hope to replace with a Kate Spade satchel next month when we go to Disneyworld on a family trip).

Simple Outfit #2

Prompt: Bomber Jacket + White Tee + Colored Denim + Metallic Sneakers

My Style: This was a perfect prompt for doubling up as both casual and work appropriate. I wore my fringed skirt (styled here) and bomber jacket (styled here) for the office and quickly threw on some jeans after work for Miss. H's fine arts gala performance.  I love playing with patterns and textures.  Polka dots and florals actually go really well together and  I also mixed it up by adding these forest green pumps for a pop of unexpected color!

Simple Outfit #3

Prompt: Striped Blazer + Floral Top + White Jeans + Sandals

My Style:  I would I stayed  closest to this prompt out of the three.  I've got the white jeans, which go with everything, palm tree/sunset tank and the stripes on my wedges.  I love how this outfit came together for a casual day with the kids.

The spring challenge is now over but the Facebook group, which is my favorite part of the challenges, is going through the prompts again, also if you use link above the challenge is on sale now for only $29.  I have decided to NOT shop for anything else from today until we go to Florida and am challenging myself to wear every piece from my spring wardrobe at least once before we leave on vacation.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Fashion Friday: GYPO Style Challenge Week #1

The Get Your Pretty On spring style challenge started a week and a half ago and today I am sharing two outfits from the first week.  The outfit prompts are delivered the evening before, and are accompanied by a visual prompt as well as a written one.  The outfits are mostly causal but I, along with many others, adapt the prompts to meet our own needs, mine being mostly business casual (depending on the day).  If you are interested in joining it's not too late just click here.

#1 Prompt: Bomber Jacket + Solid Tee + White Jeans + Sandals

My work version included my trusted white skirt (styled here) , my Guess bomber (sold out  but similar is linked), navy shirt  and Nine West pumps, that I feel every girl should own.

#2 Prompt: Utility Jacket or Striped Blazer + Floral Top + Colored Denim + Sandals

The prompt featured blush pink denim which I currently have in  my closet with the tags still intact, but when I put these light blue  pants  I  was immediately in love with them. My husband also happened to walk into the bedroom at that exact moment and said, "oh, those are really nice." I was SOLD!!! I was happy to pull this little outfit together with everything from my exciting closet except for the new Design Lab pants which are on sale at the moment and they have them in various colors.

That's all for today.  Follow along on Insagram to see the daily outfits.

Happy Easter everyone!

Fashion Friday: One Last Time

This post was meant for my usual Fashion Friday posts but it just didn't happen.  Lately life just seems too difficult to keep up with and I had to stop mid-week and let some things go.  Honestly, the week wasn't significantly different from any other except I think it all just kind of caught up to me.

Why do I, and so many women, put so much pressure on myself?

Why do I insist on keeping all the balls in the air at all times?

Why do I feel bad/disappointment/guilty/inadequate when one of the balls finally drops?

Well, I don't really have the answer to these questions, but as I've gotten older two things have happened.

#1 I've come to realize that I have these expectations and feelings.

#2 I have started consciously fighting against these feelings and admitting that I can't keep up all of the time.

That's what I did this week and now I feel a little more balanced going into next week.

Anyway, last week I wore a few of my favorite fall/winter pieces one last time, before washing them and placing them in the winter bucket.  Excuse the work bathroom selfies.

By the end of the week the temperature was rising and the sun was shining.  This bell sleeve top is not new to the blog, check here, and is sticking around for spring.  This time I paired it up with these adorable flower pattern flats that I snagged at Walmart last year.   Also I stacked a long necklace that I have been getting a lot of wear out of, with some pearls.  I love how elegant , yet trendy, the jewelry and the top look together.  I also received my shopping items form The Bay on Friday and the Get Your Pretty On Spring Challenge is starting on Monday.  Stay tuned to see what I have in store for spring! I hope you all have a great first week of April!

Fashion Friday: Cold Shoulder Love & Style Challenge Info.

Boy this week flew by quickly.  Our home is feeling a bit under the weather with stomach bugs and low energy, but we've made it to the end of the week and have next week off!!!!  I can't wait to stay in mommy gear all week long. I will be sharing my mom outfits from the week next Friday but in the meantime you can follow along on Instagram

Let's talk about the cold should trend.  I LOVE it even more then the off-the-shoulder look, mainly because I can still wear my regular bra and it's  work appropriate.  I purchased this cable knit sweater  from Guess right after Xmas and have styled it several times this winter already.  My favorite way to style it is with my Vero Moda leggings, also featured HERE.

What makes an outfit even better?!?  Well a faux fur coat of course!!!!

Last week I finally purchased a set of hot rollers to try.  I love them!!!!  I need a bigger set, the one I purchased has 6 jumbo and 6 regular rollers, and with my thick hair, I could certainly use a few extra rollers.  I feel like I am in the 80's with big hair and I just don't care!

This year I've decided to treat myself to gel nails every 3-4 weeks and I love the Valentines Day designs that I got for February.

Before I say goodbye I have one more thing to share.  A couple of weeks ago I told you that I participated in Alison's GYPO Style Challenge, read about it HERE.  Alison is back with a Basic Capsule Wardrobe that's mainly focused on stay at home moms.  If you are feeling stuck in a rut, or have a closet full of stuff but struggle to pull the pieces together to create fun outfits,  or just want to revaluate some of your choices, this might be the perfect place to begin.  Having a strong basic wardrobe will save you tons of money in the long run and you can spruce it up by adding seasonal accessories or trendy pieces without spending a bunch of money on a "new" wardrobe every season (who can afford that?!?)   If you are interested just use this LINK and sign up for just $29.  I will not be participating because I feel like I have a strong basic wardrobe already and seeing as I work full time I feel that the outfits maybe too casual for my workplace environment.

Have a wonderful weekend all you pretty ladies and thanks for stopping by.

Fashion Friday: 5 Everyday Work Outfits

Just before the holiday season I found myself feeling unmotivated and lacking creativity with my outfits.  I was sick a lot of the time, which I have finally sorted out, and tired most days after work; this is very unlike me. This was probably the first Christmas season that I entered  feeling somewhat overwhelmed and exhausted by the idea of the  holidays.   In an attempt to pull myself out of the funk  I decided to join Allison's Get Your Pretty On Winter Style Challenge.   I wanted/needed to have someone tell me what to wear and when to wear it.  The group of women that participate in the challenge also have a special FB group that they post their daily outfits in and seek advice from one another.  These women make you feel like a million $$$ and are extremely supportive.  It's a rarity in this day and age,  sad to say but true, to see women encouraging, supporting and championing one another, making it worth the expense of joining the challenge.  The prompts provided are mostly casual, stay at home moms or casual work environment,  but you can add your own flair to them as I do to make them work for me and my work environment.  Honestly much of the time the prompt is just a starting point and I  often end up with a completely different look.  I highly recommend joining if you have never done something like this before or  are looking for a fun way to revamp  your wardrobe.  Currently there isn't a style challenge  happening but you can sign up for the annual membership at discounted rate using this link (a year membership gives you one challenge for free).  Anyway this week for Fashion Friday, I am choosing  five of my favorite work/casual versions of the outfits that I styled during the 2 weeks that I was a part of the style challenge.

#1 Tunic, Printed Scarf, Leggings and Boots:  I love how this outfit added color to my wardrobe especially in the dead of winter.

#2 Sweater Dress, Fur Vest, OTKB and Long Necklace:  Wore it twice!  Once to work and once for date night.

#3 Cable Knit Sweater, Leather leggings, Ankle Boots and a Blanket Scarf:  I finally have a  blanket scarf!!!! Actually I have two now and the one I am featuring here was a gift from a fellow Canadian who was also in the style challenge.  They organized a gift exchange among the ladies in the group and it was so much fun!

#4  Black Leather Leggings, Black Top, Black Ankle Boots and a Printed Scarf:  I love this monochromatic look so much!!!!!  I did add the fuzzy sweater because it was  -30C outside.

#5  Grey Dress, Pink Blazer, Ankle Boots: This outfit was inspired by the prompts with pink sweater and gray jeans but that doesn't fly in my work environment but I loved the color scheme so much that I dug out this little outfit from my spring/summer bucket and added some booties to it.

The kiddos and I are having a GIRLS ONLY WEEKEND!!!

Thanks for stopping by.
