Celebrating in Polka Dots & Floral

Today my post is a bit early in celebration of my blogger friend Ada's, from Elegance and Mommyhood, birthday!  Ada is a mommy to a darling little 5 year old girl, who she often twins with over on  her blog.  Ada was one of the very first bloggers to really show me support and encouragement.  I know that my girl Ada is going to have a fairly different version of her birthday this year, as are all people whose birthdays will land at this COVID-19 crisis, so I wanted to have a little drink and cupcake in her honor.

These days we aren't having many events to dress up for, but lately I've been really craving the need to look and feel pretty again.  Maybe its the fact that the weather has finally warmed up, and I am dreaming of patio drinks with friends.  Or maybe it's the fact that it's been months since the last time my husband and I had a date night.  Or the fact that I can be totally dress casually for working from home.  Or all of the above.  Regardless of the reasons why, lately I am dressing up just for the sake of dressing up even if it's only for a few hours.  For example, sometimes I just dress up for work to recreate that sense of normalcy.  Or I put some heels on to go to the grocery store.  Or I might dress up just to meet up with my girlfriends over video chat.  Whatever the reason, I know that I am going to be dressing up in this little outfit again for Mother's Day dinner (which I may even order in, instead of cooking it myself).  I am hoping as things begin to lift and slowly we try to return to some version of normal in June and over the summer months,  I get to wear this out for a brunch or a real date night in a restaurant, with good wine, and no children.  I love them so much but I won't lie, I am looking forward to an evening with just my husband, without bickering and chattering.   We may even just sit in silence.  LOL!

This darling top is on mega sale now, so check out the link below, and your can also see it styled here and it pairs so well with jeans and heels.  It's a top that just about works with everything and I adore the girly vibe it throws off.

What are you missing right now?

Come back on Friday to read a Mommy Diaries post.  This is going to be an honest and raw post, discussing how parenting is full of tough decisions and how to navigate through disappointments.  Also, I would love for you to follow me on IG!

Hello Polka Dot Cuteness

Can we just agree that this Dex polka dot blouse is the cutest?  Seriously, so adorable with the little bow shoulder tie ups.  Just melts my heart.  I love the cute-sy detail but also that the piece is feminine and classy, making you still feel like an adult.  It truly does a great job of balancing trendy, cute, feminine and professional look all in one blouse.  The adjustable shoulder ties are a major plus for me, as I like to make sure everything is secure especially if I am bending over or working with little kids when I visit schools.  I am also a fan that the ribbons are thick so it's easy to hid the bra straps underneath and there is no need to throw on a cardigan or blazer over top for an office environment, unless you want to.

Now the pants were an instant YES for me while in Edmonton for my "sisters" weekend (I still need to find the time to write about that).  Red is a classic color and though it's been a pantone color pick for a while, I just feel like it never goes out of style.  They are soooo comfy and the elastic waistband makes them a winner, 🤣.  They are a comfortable fit through the legs and around the waist.  I also love that they are high rise, so next year when I am back in the classroom, I'll have no issues crawling around in them and wont have to tug my shirts down.  Oh, I hope high-waisted pants never go out of style again.

Another item that I was thrilled to find on my trip Edmonton was a pair of neutral pumps. I 've been searching high and low without luck, I could only find a matte color but not one with a little shimmer and shine.  These Rockport pumps are not only the perfect color, but the mid-heel is comfortable to wear all day long in the office.

I am off to a fun night out with my good gal pal, Carrie Underwood!!!!  I can't wait to see her live with my sweet friend Heather.  Follow along on IG and next week I'll be showing you how I styled my cowboy boots for a fun night out!  Happy weekend everyone!

Fashion Friday: Three Simple Outfits For Every Woman

Hi friends!  Well the Get Your Pretty On Spring Style Challenge wrapped up last Sunday and I am going to share three outfits provided by Alison of GYPO that I loved from weeks 2 & 3, that  I feel any woman could re-create.  What you will discover is that the prompts provided are super simple and you are encourage to interpret, substitute and adjust the them to suite your daily lifestyle.  Here we go:

Simple Outfit #1

Prompt: Cardigan + Chambray Dress + Printed Scarf + Lace Up Flats

My style:  White jeans, basic tank, chambray shirt, my favorite necklace/locket, peep-toe booties and my trusted Nine West spring purse (which I hope to replace with a Kate Spade satchel next month when we go to Disneyworld on a family trip).

Simple Outfit #2

Prompt: Bomber Jacket + White Tee + Colored Denim + Metallic Sneakers

My Style: This was a perfect prompt for doubling up as both casual and work appropriate. I wore my fringed skirt (styled here) and bomber jacket (styled here) for the office and quickly threw on some jeans after work for Miss. H's fine arts gala performance.  I love playing with patterns and textures.  Polka dots and florals actually go really well together and  I also mixed it up by adding these forest green pumps for a pop of unexpected color!

Simple Outfit #3

Prompt: Striped Blazer + Floral Top + White Jeans + Sandals

My Style:  I would I stayed  closest to this prompt out of the three.  I've got the white jeans, which go with everything, palm tree/sunset tank and the stripes on my wedges.  I love how this outfit came together for a casual day with the kids.

The spring challenge is now over but the Facebook group, which is my favorite part of the challenges, is going through the prompts again, also if you use link above the challenge is on sale now for only $29.  I have decided to NOT shop for anything else from today until we go to Florida and am challenging myself to wear every piece from my spring wardrobe at least once before we leave on vacation.  Have a great weekend everyone!
